Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that the Day of Judgment will be extremely difficult, and people’s condition will reflect their deeds. Allah gives special shade to seven kinds of people, including the just imam. Justice means using the same standard even when it affects ourselves or our families. The examples about influential people and sincere advice show that status must never excuse wrongdoing. At home, we can begin by being fair, accepting correction, and refusing favoritism.

  1. When is it hardest to be fair to someone in our own family?
  2. How can we respond when someone gives us difficult but sincere advice?
  3. What does refusing favoritism look like at school or in our community?
