Every Muslim should support dawah
“You are the ambassadors of the deen of Islam.”
Because Islam centers on worshipping Allah and conveying that message to everyone, Muslims must support dawah through their intentions, conduct, learning, and practical service.
The khutbah in 8 steps
- Announcements promote dawah training and mentorship for new Muslims.
- All prophets brought the same core message: worship Allah.
- Worship encompasses beliefs, speech, work, study, and everyday actions.
- The Prophet's mercy for all people makes conveying Islam a continuing Muslim responsibility.
- Historical examples emphasize spreading Islam and preserving faith across generations.
- Dawah strengthens personal faith, welcomes converts, and protects Muslim identity.
- Parents protect their children by practicing Islam and modeling it publicly.
- The sermon closes with concrete ways to join dawah and an invitation to training.
In the khateeb's words
“Worship in Islam is not just prayers, brothers. It's not. It's not just coming to the masjid. It is not fasting and hajj.”
“Every single thing we do is an ibadah. An ibadah is not restricted to a masjid, or prayers, or fasting, or hajj, or umrah.”
“I'm going to get involved with dawah. I'm going to support the dawah. I'm going to print flyers. I'm going to do admin work.”
“You are the ambassadors of the deen of Islam. You should walk. All of us should walk, talk.”
For the dinner table
This khutbah says that all prophets brought the same central message: worship Allah. Worship includes not only prayer, fasting, and pilgrimage, but also our beliefs, words, work, study, and everyday conduct. Because the Prophet's mission was mercy for all people, Muslims are urged to share Islam and support dawah in whatever way they can. Dawah can strengthen our own faith and help protect the faith of future generations, especially when Islam is lived at home. Families are encouraged to make good intentions, practice what they teach, and become welcoming examples.
- What is one ordinary thing you could do this week with the intention of worshipping Allah?
- How could our family welcome or support someone learning about Islam?
- What action or habit might show others what Islam teaches?
- What is one way you could help with dawah using your own skills?
