Use each day to prepare for the hereafter

“Remember, you're just passing through this dunya towards the hereafter.”

The khateeb, at 5:17

In one sentence

Because life is a temporary journey toward one of two eternal destinations, believers must use each day for righteous obedience and resist worldly distraction, disobedience, and harmful influences.

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that this life is a journey toward the hereafter, and each day is an opportunity to prepare through good deeds. He urged us to think about the consequences of our choices and make changes instead of letting years pass with the same habits. Preparing includes preserving our prayers, being kind to our families, telling the truth, and avoiding harm to others. The good things we enjoy can remind us of what Allah has prepared in Jannah, rather than becoming things we compete and fight over. Difficulties are part of the journey too, and we can help one another keep obeying Allah through them.

  1. What good deed could you pack today as a provision for your journey to the hereafter?
  2. What would kindness to someone in our family look like tomorrow?
  3. When something gets difficult, what could help you keep making good choices?
