For the dinner table

This khutbah reminds us that Allah knows every part of us, including the thoughts hidden in our hearts. The speaker says that passing thoughts are not punished unless we give them voice or act on them, but our words and deeds are recorded. Because death and the Day of Judgment are certain, we should prepare now with sincere hearts and careful speech. We should use our tongues for Qur'an, remembrance, good advice, and reconciliation, and avoid backbiting or blocking others from good. The speaker especially encourages studying Surah Qaf, from verse 16 onward, to reflect on these unseen realities.

  1. What is one kind or useful thing you can say today?
  2. When is it hardest to control your tongue, and what could help?
