Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Imam Wazir Ali reminded us that knowing about gratitude should lead to practicing it. He shared how buying his own household supplies helped him appreciate everything his parents had provided. He encouraged us to notice blessings we often overlook, from elders in our community to the sun and the workings of our bodies. Following Suleiman’s example, we can ask Allah to help us be grateful for what He has given us and our families. At home, gratitude can take the form of cooking, helping, and caring for one another, and the imam described it as a way to resist Shaytan’s influence.

  1. What is something you used today that someone else worked to provide?
  2. What would you like to learn from an elder in our family or community?
  3. What helpful thing could you do this week to show someone you appreciate them?
