For the dinner table

Today's khutbah centered on La ilaha illa Allah: there is none worthy of worship except Allah. The khateeb shared the image of a goodly word as a tree with firm roots and branches reaching the heavens. He explained how prayer, giving, fasting, and Hajj connect to taqwa, being mindful of Allah. He reminded us that our testimony of faith needs to come from our hearts and shape our actions, beyond the words we say. He also explained that worship brings together sincerity for Allah and following the way of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

  1. If faith is like a tree, what could help your roots grow stronger this week?
  2. How might fasting help you remember Allah when you feel frustrated or tempted?
  3. What could help you do a good deed sincerely for Allah when nobody notices?
