For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us to thank Allah for extending our lives and giving us more opportunities to worship Him and do good. He explained that Eid calls us to remember two great truths: where creation came from and where we are all going. The Qur’an describes both the beginning of creation and its final end so that our lives can have direction and purpose. Like Ibrahim, we can look carefully at the signs Allah has placed throughout creation and follow them toward greater certainty. Those signs may be in the sky and earth, beneath our feet, or even within ourselves, but noticing them requires hearts and minds that are not consumed by worldly distractions.

  1. What is one sign of Allah you noticed today that you might normally pass by?
  2. If a longer life gives us more chances to do good, what good deed would you like to begin?
  3. What helps you remember where you came from and where you are going?
