For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that worship can take effort, whether we are praying, giving from our money, or preparing for hajj. The khateeb encouraged us to notice Allah’s blessings and let our gratitude show in what we do. He told the story of a man whose sight was restored and who generously shared what Allah had given him. Through the stories of Urwa and Maryam, he encouraged us to notice the good and Allah’s help even during painful times. He especially urged those who have the ability to perform hajj to make it a priority instead of endlessly waiting for greater comfort.

  1. What is one everyday blessing you noticed today, and how could you show Allah your thanks?
  2. What could you share this week with someone who needs it?
  3. When someone feels alone or upset, what could you do to help them feel cared for?
