Death & the hereafterFrom the masjid's own video, Sep 2, 2023.
Faith must come before worldly status
“The natural fitrah of humanity is to believe in a God.”
In one sentence
Since Allah created us to worship Him and we will return to Him, Muslims must prioritize deeds over worldly status, practice Islam in daily choices, and hold firmly to faith through social pressure.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Islam's Tawheed may seem strange to society, but belief in one God is rooted in humanity's natural fitrah.
- Life has a divine purpose and ends in return to Allah, making deeds more important than wealth, degrees, or entertainment.
- Worship includes ordinary work and daily life, requiring halal income, food, and ethical choices rather than compromising faith for worldly gain.
- Allah's mercy leads to Jannah through hope joined with prayer, fasting, zakat, halal living, repentance, and continual spiritual improvement.
- Muslims should have izzah, leave situations where Islam is insulted, seek knowledge, and teach children perseverance.
- The khutbah closes by urging unity around the Quran and contrasting the groups entering Jahannam with those welcomed into Jannah.

Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“The natural fitrah of humanity is to believe in a God. It is strange to go against the natural belief.”
“But how do we attain Allah's mercy? It's contingent on our deeds.”
“There's no ceiling that you hit as a Muslim. There's no peak where, Khalas, you don't need to do any more good deeds.”
“The minimum you can do if you hear someone insult Islam or insult Allah is stand up and leave.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminds us that Islam's central truth is Tawheed, and that Allah created us to worship Him. We should bring remembrance of Allah into work, money, food, family life, and every daily choice. Because death is certain, our deeds matter more than wealth, degrees, or entertainment, while Allah's mercy gives us hope. We should be proud of our faith, seek knowledge, keep improving, teach our children perseverance, and stay united around the Quran.
- What ordinary activity could become worship if you remembered Allah while doing it?
- What does being proud of Islam look like without being rude to others?
- Which good deed can our family practice together this week?
