Turn your goals into worship and service
“The deeds most loved by Allah are those done consistently, even if they are small.”
Believers should pursue meaningful goals for Allah’s sake, sustain consistent effort, serve others, and strengthen themselves through community.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Clarifies Qur’an 2:62 and Islam’s continuity from earlier prophets.
- Explains honoring people of other faiths while following Islam sincerely.
- Encourages pursuing aspirations without fear of scarcity or failure.
- Urges balance between worldly and eternal good.
- Emphasizes hope, consistent small deeds, sacrifice, and communal worship.
- Advises new Muslims to attend the masjid and surround themselves with righteous believers.
In the khateeb's words
“When you trust in Allah's provision, He rewards the sincere effort of those who strive in His way.”
“The prophet said, "The deeds most loved by Allah are those done consistently, even if they are small."”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us to study the Quran with tafsir and scholarly guidance, and to maintain good relationships with people who hold different beliefs. He encouraged everyone, at any age, to pursue goals that serve Allah and benefit others, trusting His provision instead of letting fear stop sincere effort. He reminded us to seek goodness both in this life and in the hereafter. Small, consistent good deeds matter, and we should also make an effort to pray together and spend time with people who remind us of Allah. Even everyday responsibilities, like paying a household bill or caring for our family, can earn reward when we do them for Allah.
- What dream would you like to use to help other people?
- What small good deed could we practice regularly as a family?
- How could we help someone feel welcome when they come to the masjid?
