Death should change how we live

“The reality of death should change the way in which we live our lives.”

The khateeb, at 20:32

In one sentence

Because death is certain and its timing hidden, Muslims should use the present to live sincerely for Allah, repent promptly, repair relationships, worship consistently, and send righteous deeds ahead.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminds us that death is certain, but its timing is hidden, so every day is a gift. Remembering death can help us set aside anger, pride, jealousy, and the endless pursuit of more. Allah cares about the sincerity of our hearts as well as our deeds. We should repent quickly, pray on time, repair relationships, give charity, and stop saying we will change later. A believer tries to live faithfully every day, hoping to return to Allah with a peaceful soul.
