Prepare for death by using time well

“We have to train ourselves to accept death.”

The khateeb, at 24:52

Because worldly life is brief and time is steadily running out, believers should use their health and time for faith and righteous deeds, prepare themselves for death, and prioritize the Hereafter over worldly competition.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us to look honestly at the past year and find ways to grow closer to Allah. The imam explained that our life in this world is temporary, so we should prepare for the next life through faith and good deeds. He encouraged us to build habits of worship while we are healthy and spoke about Allah’s mercy when sickness or old age prevents us from continuing them. Although we cannot control time, we can choose how we use the time Allah gives us. Together, we can make that time meaningful by worshipping Allah, doing good, and helping each other follow the truth and be patient.

  1. What is one good deed you want to make a regular part of your week?
  2. What could we make more time for together that would help us grow closer to Allah?
  3. How can we help each other be patient on a difficult day?
