Enter Islam fully in every area
“When you enter fully into Islam, you will live a very peaceful life.”
Believers should enter Islam fully by letting it guide every area of life, so they gain peace, resist Shaytan, and leave a beneficial legacy.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Introduces the Qissat Aya approach of reflecting on one Quranic verse and applying it.
- Recaps earlier lessons about Allah’s protection and the lasting record of deeds and legacy.
- Explains Surah al-Baqarah’s command to enter Islam fully rather than selectively.
- Connects wholehearted religious practice with peace, honesty, and integrity in business.
- Applies the message to Canadian Muslim identity, cultural practices, and harmful customs.
- Warns against Shaytan’s gradual steps and closes with prayers for steadfastness, healing, relief, and community support.
In the khateeb's words
“If you study too much, you will not be able to apply anything. But my goal is to study a little bit that we can apply.”
“When you enter fully. Into Islam. You will live. A very peaceful life. You will not live. A life that is shaky.”
“If you want to enter to Islam. You need to leave any culture. That is against your religion.”
“The technique is here. Don't follow the footsteps of Shaitan. He will take you slowly to where he wants you to be.”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us that Islam is meant to shape our whole lives, not just our prayer and fasting. When we live honestly and consistently, we gain peace instead of having to hide or feel divided. We should keep the good parts of our culture, but leave anything that conflicts with our religion. We were encouraged to resist small, gradual steps toward wrongdoing and to invest generously in schools and other lasting institutions. In this way, our faith can guide Canadian Muslim families and leave a good legacy for those who come after us.
- What is one part of your daily life where honesty or kindness could bring more peace?
- Which family traditions help us live our faith, and which might need changing?
- What good thing could our family start this week that might help people in the future?
