For the dinner table

The khutbah remembers the innocent people killed on 9/11 and the many people harmed by the wars and discrimination that followed. It recognizes that Muslim families had real reasons to feel afraid, and it asks us not to judge those who made difficult survival choices. But fear can be passed to children until hiding one’s Muslim identity feels normal. The imam encourages us to raise children with Islamic dignity, confidence, and trust in Allah. He reminds us to attend Jumu'ah fully and practice our faith with courage and gratitude.

  1. When can caution protect us, and when can it make us hide who we are?
  2. What does being proud of your faith look like at school or in public?
  3. How might trusting Allah help someone facing fear?
