The Quran must be understood and lived
“Gaining knowledge of our faith should be priority number one.”
The Qur'an is Allah's enduring revelation, meant to be understood and implemented as comprehensive guidance toward mercy and eternal happiness.
The khutbah in 6 steps

- Explains how Qur'anic guidance applies to poverty, wealth, family problems, and other life situations.
- Highlights the precision of Arabic and the need to rely on qualified scholars for interpretation.
- Argues that the Qur'an benefits people who actively seek truth and use their intellect.
- Urges believers to prioritize Qur'anic learning rather than treating recitation or display as sufficient.
- Concludes that reading, understanding, and implementing the Qur'an leads to Allah's mercy and happiness.
In the khateeb's words
“So, being poor is not an obstacle to reach the high levels.”
“And gaining knowledge of our faith should be priority number one. You don't allocate spare time.”
“The Qur'an, its role is you read it, you understand it, and you implement it.”
“You have to understand it and you have to implement it in order to achieve all the benefits that Allah has given us in this glorious Qur'an.”
For the dinner table
The khateeb reminded us that the Qur'an is Allah's revelation, given to guide us toward His mercy and happiness in this life and the next. When we put its guidance into practice, the benefits reach other people, animals, and the environment. Wealth, poverty, and difficulties at home do not prevent us from growing closer to Allah. He encouraged us to seek understanding actively, learn from scholars, and remember that receiving good advice matters alongside giving it. As a family, we can make time to read the Qur'an, understand its guidance, and put what we learn into practice.
- What helps you listen when someone gives you good advice?
- When could we make a little time together to read and understand the Qur'an?
