Use life’s blessings for worship and service

“If you see any evils, change it or stop it with your hand if you have ability and capacity.”

The khateeb, at 13:04

In one sentence

Human life is created for worshiping Allah through devotion, justice, moral responsibility, and service, not merely worldly consumption, so believers should use their limited time and blessings for the afterlife.

For the dinner table

Today the imam asked a big question: why did Allah create us, and what is the purpose of our life? He reminded us that worship is more than praying and fasting. It also means calling people to good, standing up for what is fair and right, and helping our community, even when that is hard. He said this life is short, like a traveler's journey. It's fine to enjoy the world and build things, but it shouldn't become our main goal, and families should spend real time together. He also reminded us that Allah will ask how we used our youth, our health, our money and what we learned, so let's race each other in good deeds instead of in getting more stuff. The good news is that it's not too late, and we still have time to live the way Allah wants us to.

  1. If someone asked you why Allah created you, what would you say?
  2. What is one good deed you could 'race' a friend or sibling to do this week?
  3. What's something you learned recently from the Qur'an or a hadith, and how could you act on it?
