Community & unityFrom the masjid's own video, Oct 24, 2026.
Real change requires everyone to do their part
“You have to do your part.”
In one sentence
Allah has given ordinary people meaningful abilities, so real change comes through faith, self-control, shared responsibility, and active service, not waiting for a superhero, miracle, or political savior.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Uses superhero culture and presidential politics to challenge the fantasy of a single savior.
- Teaches that all power belongs to Allah and urges reliance on Him.
- Distinguishes rare divine miracles from the ordinary human effort Allah expects.
- Applies shared responsibility to talents, families, emotional control, teamwork, and community-building.
- Closes with self-examination, small acts of service, voting, and preventing harm.
Try this week
Repeat la hawla wa la quwwata and stay connected to Allah.
Use your talents, voice, and abilities to help others.
Control anger and impulses, participate as a team player, and do your share of work.
Take responsibility for family chores, teaching, and care rather than expecting one person to solve everything.
Examine your own contribution and identify one change you can make.
Vote and participate; when you cannot make good happen, prevent evil from happening.
Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“Things don't change by superheroes You know why? Because there are no such thing as superheroes”
“You have to work You have to do your part You have to unite Be together Help each other”
“You have a voice You can use it One person Cannot do everything But I can do A little bit Of something For that food To come To your table”
“If you cannot Make good happen Prevent evil From happening If that's what it means For you to vote”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
Allah gives us abilities, but He does not ask us to wait for a superhero to fix our lives. The Prophet Muhammad showed reliance on Allah alongside practical courage, patience, planning, and restraint. Every person has a responsibility to family and community, and even a smile or small talent can help others. We should examine our own contribution, work together, participate in civic life, and prevent harm when we cannot create the ideal outcome.
- What is one ability you can use to help someone this week?
- What responsibility can you take more seriously at home?
- How can we work together to prevent harm in our community?
