For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah invited us to appreciate how the Quran was revealed and how it can change our lives. The khateeb described different ways Allah communicated with His prophets and how physically demanding revelation could be for Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. He explained that the Quran offers guidance for our feelings, worship, relationships, and everyday responsibilities, with much for us to keep learning. He shared how Umar ibn al-Khattab chose to go without a luxury during a famine so he could share the hardship of his people. The khutbah encouraged us to grow closer to the Quran by learning its meanings and letting its guidance shape how we care for others.

  1. What is one part of your day where you would like to understand the Quran’s guidance better?
  2. How could we help someone who is having a hard time, inspired by Umar’s care for his people?
