For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that taqwa means being mindful of Allah and trying to please Him throughout our lives, as much as we are able. Because none of us knows how much time we have, the khateeb encouraged us to care for our prayers, connect with the Quran, and prepare to meet Allah. He explained that remembering death should awaken and guide us, rather than leave us discouraged. We can work hard and succeed in this world while keeping our final destination in mind. He also reminded us that ongoing charity, knowledge that helps others, and a righteous child’s prayers can continue bringing good after we die, so we can begin leaving that goodness today.
