For the dinner table

Today's khutbah reminded us that Allah has made Islam a way of life we can practice, with ease and balance. The khateeb encouraged us to do our best without making worship unnecessarily difficult for ourselves or others. He described the Prophet's kindness and reminded us to encourage people rather than embarrass them when they need guidance. He also explained that our faith takes account of our abilities and circumstances, including illness and travel. As a family, we can focus on practicing the basics well, treating one another gently, and turning to Allah in dua.

  1. What could help you practice one of the basics of Islam more regularly?
  2. The khateeb said the Prophet treated children with love and respect; how can we show that care to someone younger than us?
