Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“the theme of this surah is the two paths. The two paths that we can take in our life. The path upward or the path downward.”
“Allah gave us a clean, straight fitrah. That innate program nature of believing in Allah, of believing in the oneness of Allah, of liking things that are moral, of feeling uncomfortable about things that are immoral.”
“Choose the straight, upright path, even if it's more difficult. Because that's going to keep your ruh and your fitra upright.”
“After all of this, what makes you deny the deen.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khateeb reflected on Surah al-Tin and its picture of two paths: one that rises and one that falls. Allah created people with honorable bodies, a clean fitrah, intellect, and a spirit capable of rising above material concerns. We can lose our way through disbelief, sin, or neglect, but faith and righteous deeds keep us on the higher path. The sermon encouraged us to appreciate Allah’s blessings, choose uprightness even when it is difficult, and trust in Allah’s unending reward.
