Muslims must take the lead in reconciliation
“You need to listen to both sides of the story.”
In one sentence
Because disagreement is inevitable, Muslims must actively and justly reconcile damaged relationships by listening to all sides, protecting the oppressed, and taking concrete steps toward repair.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Disagreement is inevitable because people differ, and relationships test our patience.
- The Qur'an makes reconciliation a communal responsibility rather than someone else's business.
- Reconciliation requires impartiality, hearing both sides, and never pressuring the oppressed to accept abuse.
- Families need balanced rights between spouses, parents, children, and in-laws, without divisive advice or social-media labeling.
- Believers should end prolonged estrangement and personally contact people they have stopped speaking to.
- Mediation requires sincere intention, justice, and competence, followed by a closing announcement urging responsible voting.
