For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminds us that dua is more than asking for things; it is an act of worship and a sign that we depend on Allah. We should turn to Allah in ease and hardship, repent from sin, fulfill obligations, keep our food and earnings lawful, and ask with sincerity and attention. The khateeb encouraged us to persist in dua and seek blessed times such as the last third of the night and the final hour before sunset on Friday. We should also be just and remember ourselves, our families, fellow believers, and oppressed people around the world in our prayers. Allah is near and responsive, so we should ask Him with hope and humility.

  1. What is one thing you would like to ask Allah for this week?
  2. When could our family make dua together during a blessed time?
  3. How can we be more just and helpful toward people who are suffering?
