Protect the blessings you already have

“Time equals life; it is the most precious thing that Allah has given us.”

The khateeb, at 11:27

In one sentence

As we pursue self-improvement, we must protect and consciously use Allah's finite blessings, time, health, money, energy, and relationships, in obedience rather than repeatedly squandering them.

Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that our blessings are not only money, but also time, health, faith, attention, energy, and relationships. A good resolution is not just adding new goals; it is taking care of what Allah has already given us. Waste can happen through excess, neglect, or repeatedly using a blessing in harmful ways. We can begin with small choices: less scrolling and online arguing, more care for family, and less waste of water, food, and electricity. When we use our blessings with gratitude and purpose, we protect them and move closer to obedience.

  1. What blessing do you want to take better care of this week?
  2. What is one phone habit you could reduce to make more time for family?
  3. Where do you notice waste in our home, and how could we reduce it?
