Serving others brings Allah’s help
“As long as you're at the service of people Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala will be there for you.”
Allah’s forgiveness, ease, and concealment of our faults are pursued by serving fellow believers through relieving hardship, forgiving debts, concealing shortcomings, and making time for others.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Reflect on what you would sacrifice for Allah’s forgiveness, ease, and protection.
- Explain that believers meet Allah alone but must support one another as one ummah.
- Connect relieving hardship and easing debts with Allah’s help in this life and the next.
- Illustrate communal service through Uthman ibn Affan’s well and support for Tabuk.
- Apply the teaching by concealing faults and making time to serve others, following the Prophet’s example.
In the khateeb's words
“Don't pass it on Don't share it Don't forward that video Or that message Or whatever it may be Which exposes a person's sins Or shortcomings”
“As long as you're at the service Of people Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala Will be there for you”
“There's no such thing as being too busy Brothers and sisters You make time for what you prioritize That's what it comes down to”
For the dinner table
Today's khutbah reminded us that Allah calls us to help one another and live as one community. The khateeb explained that relieving another believer's hardship is a means of receiving relief from Allah on the Day of Judgment. He encouraged kindness toward people struggling with debt, including giving them more time or forgiving what they owe. He also reminded us to protect people's dignity by refusing to spread their embarrassing mistakes. Through the Prophet's example of making time for people who needed him, he encouraged us to make helping others a real priority in our lives.
- What could you say when friends start sharing an embarrassing video of someone?
- Who could we make more time to listen to and help?
