For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminded us that being good to our parents is an important way to draw closer to Allah. The khateeb shared a story about a son who saw caring for his aging father as an honor and connected that care with blessings. He encouraged us to appreciate our parents while they are here, and to remember them through dua and visits to their friends and loved ones after they pass away. He also reminded parents that children have rights and deserve kindness, dignity, and guidance. Families should work toward a balance of loving care and clear boundaries, helping one another grow in respect and goodness.
