Steady worship matters more than grand acts

“You may not be able to control things happening across the world but you have control over your relationship with Allahu subhanahu wa ta'ala.”

The khateeb, at 21:15

In one sentence

Allah values sincere, consistent deeds more than visible grand acts, so believers should build steadfast spirituality before Ramadan and through life's trials.

The khutbah in 6 steps

  1. Public deeds and social media can distort how believers judge spiritual value.
  2. Sincere, consistent small deeds may be more beloved to Allah than impressive public actions.
  3. Believers should prepare for Ramadan now and live steadily upon faith rather than postponing repentance.
  4. Quiet daily worship, family responsibilities, patience, and lawful living are recognized by Allah.
  5. Spiritual strength built during ease prepares believers for hardship and reveals the sincerity of their iman.
  6. Small acts such as smiling, removing harm, giving charity, and increasing dua should not be belittled.

For the dinner table

Allah does not measure our deeds only by how large or visible they look to people. He loves sincere acts that we keep doing, even when they seem small, so we should begin preparing for Ramadan now instead of waiting for it. Daily prayer, a kind smile, clearing something harmful from the road, small charity, and regular dua can all be precious when done for Allah. The sermon reminded us that ease is also a test and that building a relationship with Allah in good times helps us remain firm in hard times. We should notice and honor quiet acts of faith in our families and pray for people suffering around the world.

  1. What is one small good deed you can repeat every day this week?
  2. How can we show gratitude to Allah when life feels comfortable?
  3. Who could use a smile, help, or a dua from us today?
