For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah taught that justice in Islam means giving Allah, ourselves, and other people their due. It includes worshipping Allah alone, caring for our bodies and minds with balance, and speaking fairly even when family or friends are involved. If someone is doing wrong, standing by them means helping them stop, not helping them continue. We should cooperate with anyone who pursues justice and avoid joining sin or transgression. The sermon ended by asking Allah to make us people who spread justice in our homes and communities and show mercy to those who have died.

  1. When have you seen someone make things fair without treating everyone exactly the same?
  2. How can we help a friend stop doing something wrong?
  3. What is one way our family can spread justice this week?
