Trust Allah when oppression seems to win
“The more that they exert themselves to try to put out the light of Islam, the more manifest is the success and victory of Allah's plan.”
Allah’s plan ultimately turns apparent defeats and the plots of oppressive powers into opportunities for truth to prevail, so believers should trust His promise and act for justice and relief.
The khutbah in 5 steps
- Introduces Allah’s greater plan overriding the plots of disbelievers and oppressors.
- Uses the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah to show how an apparent setback became a strategic victory.
- Uses Musa’s rescue from Firaun and the sea crossing as examples of divine deliverance at the point of apparent defeat.
- Applies the theme to Gaza, Sudan, Islamophobia, and Muslims who discovered Islam through conflict.
- Calls believers to trust Allah, uphold truth, and help relieve oppressed people.
In the khateeb's words
“The irony is, the more that they exert themselves to try to put out the light of Islam, the more manifest is the success and victory of Allah's plan.”
“Whatever anyone else says, whatever my senses are telling me, I don't believe that more than I believe in Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala and His promise.”
“The more they squeeze on Islam, the more that they expose the world to the truth of it.”
For the dinner table
The khutbah teaches that Allah’s plan can bring victory through moments that look like defeat. The Treaty of Hudaybiyyah seemed unfair, but it gave Muslims safety, recognition, and room to grow. Musa’s story shows that Allah can create a path forward when people appear completely trapped. The speaker connects these lessons to suffering in Gaza, Sudan, and other places, reminding us to trust Allah while helping those who are oppressed. We should seek truth, act for Allah’s pleasure, and remain hopeful even when the outcome is not yet visible.
- Can you think of a setback that later opened a better opportunity?
- What does trusting Allah look like when a problem seems impossible?
- How could our family help someone facing injustice or hardship?
