Reject revenge and serve the community

Quotes
In the khateeb's words
“Don't use this summer break to put yourself in a position where you spend the rest of next year trying to get your affairs in order.”
“Revenge is not the cause of a believer. Revenge is not the cause of the believer. Justice is.”
“This was not a knee-jerk reaction. This was not an emotional exchange. This was not all of a sudden, let me do something.”
“Just do the work. Let's just show up and do the work. Let's just show up and do the work.”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
The khutbah reminded us to use our free time to grow closer to Allah through Qur’an, adhkar, and learning. We were warned not to waste the summer on choices that could harm our faith, health, or future. Through the story of Yusuf, we learned that believers seek justice without being driven by revenge. The masjid also needs people to serve, mentor, protect, and support the community. Even when no one applauds our efforts, Allah sees them and rewards sincere work.
- What is one worship habit you want to strengthen this summer?
- How can you respond when someone hurts you without seeking revenge?
- What is one way our family could help the masjid or another person?
