For the dinner table

The khutbah teaches that Muslims owe one another care, trust, loyalty, and support. We should protect confidences, check on the sick, attend funerals, answer invitations, return kindness, and stand by people when they are in difficulty. The speaker also reminds us that this world is a path to the afterlife, not our final home. Enjoyment, success, and possessions can be blessings when they bring us closer to Allah, but they become harmful when they distract us. Our goal is to use what Allah gives us with gratitude and barakah.

  1. Who could we check on or encourage this week?
  2. What is one blessing we can use in a way that helps us remember Allah?
  3. What does being a trustworthy friend look like?
