Faith means resisting wrong in a corrupt world

“There is no such thing called a picture perfect society.”

The khateeb, at 9:29

In one sentence

In a corrupt and painful world, Muslims should see life as a test, trust Allah's wisdom and promised justice, examine their own conduct, and resist wrong within their capacity.

Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Imam Nadim reminded us that the world has never been perfect, and difficult circumstances test how we live our faith. When we feel heartbroken about suffering in Gaza and elsewhere, he encouraged us to keep trusting Allah and making dua, even when we do not understand what is happening. He reminded us that Allah will bring justice and that we should ask Him for mercy for ourselves. He also asked us to look honestly at how we treat people at home and in our communities, and to put right our own unfair behavior. As a family, we can keep caring, use our words to stand up for justice, make thoughtful choices about spending, and teach one another to stand up for what is right.

  1. What is one way we can make sure everyone in our family is treated fairly?
  2. When sad news feels overwhelming, what helps you turn to Allah and keep caring?
