The khutbah teaches that submitting to Allah should shape every part of life, including how we treat our parents. Parents sacrifice greatly, and the Quran commands believers to show them excellence, speak gently, and avoid even small expressions of irritation. Their old age is especially important because that is when children may feel independent and parental care becomes difficult. We can honor them through regular service, kind words, daily attention, and weekly calls when we live far away.

  1. Why might a phone call mean so much to an older parent?
  2. What does speaking gently look like when we are tired or frustrated?
