For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that our main purpose is to worship Allah, while recognizing that all of us have shortcomings. Voluntary deeds, such as extra prayer, fasting, charity, remembrance, Qur’an, and helping others, can strengthen our worship and draw us closer to Allah. Even a simple act, like smiling at someone or removing something harmful from the road, may carry enormous reward when done sincerely. The khateeb encouraged us to seek not only protection from punishment, but also Allah’s love and higher places in Jannah. Instead of doing extra good only during special seasons, we should look for small, sincere opportunities throughout the year.
