For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that oppression is a serious wrong, whoever suffers from it. He connected residential schools and current suffering to the separation of families, destruction of identity, and dehumanization of people. Islam teaches us to show mercy to Muslims, non-Muslims, and animals, and to resist wrongdoing according to our ability. We should not ignore injustice simply because the victims are different from us. Even during hardship, we should remain patient, pray for the oppressed, and trust that Allah's help is near.

  1. What does it look like to stand up for someone who is being treated unfairly?
  2. How can we show mercy to people and animals this week?
  3. What helps us stay patient when a difficult situation does not change quickly?
