For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah reminds us that we are servants and trustees of Allah, not absolute owners of our bodies, wealth, or time. Allah’s guidance is meant to protect us, and sincere intention can turn work, study, family care, commuting, and other ordinary activities into worship. We can add to our scale through small good deeds, kindness, charity, remembrance, and refraining from hurting or gossiping about people. When others disappoint us, we should keep doing right for Allah’s sake and follow the Prophet Muhammad’s example of patience and generosity.

  1. What is one everyday task you could do this week with a good intention?
  2. What small kindness could you offer without expecting anything back?
  3. How can you respond when someone makes you angry?
