Fatima's legacy means living the Quran
Fatima al-Zahra's legacy is not only mourning her suffering but embodying the Qur'an's message of tawhid, justice, mercy toward creation, and taqwa in every action.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Fatima al-Zahra is presented as a post-Prophetic sign of loyalty to wilayah and Qur'anic guidance.
- Tawhid and shared revelation call humanity to protect creation and reject killing and dehumanization.
- Fatima's stand is framed as a stand for justice beyond grief and commemoration.
- Believers are urged to embody the Qur'an, love the Prophet, give charity, and practice taqwa.
- Her tasbihat illustrate Allah's complete awareness, motivating careful moral conduct.
- The khutbah closes with prayer for guidance through the Qur'an and Ahl al-Bayt.
In the khateeb's words
“It is a message that as the creation of Allah SWT, that we are responsible to do what? To take care of the creation of Allah SWT.”
“But the legacy of Fatima to Zahra, is the legacy of the Qur'an.”
“Not just simply reciting the Qur'an, but embodying the Qur'an.”
For the dinner table
Today the khateeb spoke about Sayyida Fatima al-Zahra, whose shahada we are remembering in these nights. He explained that after the Prophet passed away, she stood up and reminded people of the Qur'an and her father's words, and the way people responded to her showed who was really holding on to the rope of Allah. He said her message is a message of Tawheed that people of all faiths can share: the world belongs to Allah, so we must look after His creation and never treat anyone's life as worth less than our own. She put her life on the line for justice, and he reminded us that her legacy is not only sadness but living by the Qur'an, not just reciting it. He ended with a beautiful line from her tasbih praising the One who sees the footprint of an ant on a smooth rock, which reminds us that Allah sees even our smallest deeds, so we should be careful and mindful in everything we do.
- Allah sees even an ant's footprint on a smooth rock, so what is one small good deed you did today that maybe only Allah noticed?
- Sayyida Fatima stood up for what was right even when it was hard. When have you seen someone stand up for fairness?
