The khutbah teaches that worldly life can look beautiful and secure, but it is temporary and can disappear suddenly. The Quran’s examples of rain and plants remind us that our strength, wealth, and status will not last. We should not abandon ordinary work or lawful enjoyment, but we should put the Hereafter first and avoid what Allah has forbidden. Since only our deeds accompany us to the grave, we should repent, do good, and prepare today instead of assuming we have more time. The khutbah ends by asking Allah to help oppressed Muslims and bring us to success in the Hereafter.

  1. What is one worldly thing we enjoy that we should remember will not last forever?
  2. What good deed could you start today instead of saying you will do it later?
  3. How can our family put the Hereafter first this week?
