Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that Friday prayer is more than completing a ritual in the masjid. Salah should shape how we live outside it, helping us leave lying, cheating, manipulation, and other wrongs while becoming merciful, generous, kind, fair, and just. He explained that Islam has room for different cultures and schools of thought when they do not contradict clear Quran or Sunnah. He also encouraged us to value both religious learning and useful fields, so a person can be a doctor and also a person of Quran and service. We can carry this khutbah home by asking what our prayer is changing in our behavior and how we can care for our community.

  1. What is one way your prayer can change how you treat people this week?
  2. How can someone learn both Quran and useful subjects?
  3. Why should Muslims respect different customs when they do not oppose Islam?
