For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that the Qur’an is a book that transforms people, not simply a book to keep on a shelf or read without reflection. He shared how Umar ibn al-Khattab went from opposing Islam to loving and defending it after the words of Surah Taha reached his heart. Later, another Qur’anic ayah helped Umar accept the Prophet’s death and helped steady the whole Muslim community. The khutbah taught that even one person, moved by faith and love for Allah and His Messenger, can make an enormous difference. It invited us to return to the Qur’an regularly and let its guidance appear in how we treat others and live each day.

  1. What is one lesson from the Qur’an you would like to put into action this week?
  2. How did Umar change after he listened carefully to the words of Allah?
  3. Where could you make a positive difference even if you feel like only one person?
