Build closeness to Allah through dua and fasting
“I am going out in the name of Allah.”
In one sentence
The khutbah urges listeners to make Prophetic supplications and monthly fasting regular habits for Allah’s guidance, protection, self-control, and closeness.
The khutbah in 7 steps
- Uses Quranic verses about riding to remind listeners that every journey ultimately returns to Allah.
- Teaches a three-part leaving-home remembrance and explains its promises of sufficiency, guidance, and protection.
- Explains the longer leaving-home supplication seeking protection from humiliation, misguidance, oppression, and ignorant harm.
- Urges humility about expertise, forgiveness after being wronged, and avoiding harmful advice given without knowledge.
- Recommends Fortress of Muslim and memorizing one authentic supplication at a time.
- Encourages fasting three days each lunar month, especially the 13th, 14th, and 15th, for spiritual and emotional self-control.
- Closes with prayers and announcements about a blood drive, educational lectures, and an Umrah trip.

“The moment you get out of your house Bismillah You say I am going out in the name of Allah With the name of Allah”
“Sometimes People are good But without knowing They hurt you”
Talk about it at home
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah reminded us that every journey ultimately returns to Allah. When we leave home, we can remember Allah, trust Him, and ask for His guidance and protection. The longer Prophetic prayer teaches us not to humiliate or mislead anyone, to avoid oppression, and not to give advice beyond our knowledge. We were encouraged to use Fortress of Muslim and memorize one supplication at a time. Finally, fasting three days each lunar month was presented as a way to grow closer to Allah and regain control over stress, anger, and desires.
- What is one leaving-home habit our family could practice together?
- When is it wiser to say, “I do not know,” instead of giving advice?
- What kind of self-control could fasting help us build?
