For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah invited us to think about what we are doing now that we hope will help us when we stand before Allah. The khateeb explained that beneficial knowledge, ongoing charity, and righteous children who make dua can bring reward after a person dies. He encouraged us to use our knowledge, influence, and money for good, and to begin while we have the opportunity. We can care for our everyday responsibilities while also preparing for the next life. Even a small good deed matters, so we can each look for something useful to do today with a sincere intention.

  1. What is one thing you know that you could teach someone to help them?
  2. What good deed have you been putting off, and how could you start it this week?
  3. What small act of kindness could you do tomorrow, even if nobody notices?
