For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that our ability to worship is a gift from Allah, not something we earn by ourselves. When Allah gives us a chance to pray, read Quran, or come to the masjid, we should respond by improving and drawing nearer to Him. We should protect our time from distractions that do not benefit us and remember that our deeds prepare us for the grave. Sadaqah, good deeds, obedience to parents, kindness to spouses, good words, and good character all help us prepare. Finally, the khutbah encouraged us to be forgiving with people, trusting that Allah loves forgiveness and may forgive us.
