Talk about it at home

For the dinner table

Allah has honored every child of Adam, and Islam teaches us to honor the people around us. Our neighbors include relatives, fellow Muslims, non-Muslims, travelers, companions, and the people who share our homes or spaces. We should not harm them, should help when they struggle, share food, greet them, and visit them when they are sick. The khutbah teaches that good worship must be joined with good treatment of people. Even when Muslims face hostility or pressure, we should respond by becoming better neighbors and standing for what is right.

  1. What is one small way we can help a neighbor who may be struggling?
  2. How can we show Islam through kindness to people who believe differently from us?
