Dhikr brings peace in this life and next
“Without the dhikr of Allah there is no peace in this life or the next life.”
Dhikr, the constant remembrance of Allah, is the core and purpose of worship, bringing spiritual life, peace, protection, and a good ending when made a daily habit.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Establishes Quranic commands to remember Allah during Jumu'ah, after prayer, and during Hajj.
- Defines dhikr as continual glorification rather than casual recollection, linking it to faith and love.
- Explains benefits including Allah’s remembrance, protection from shaitan, spiritual health, and peace amid problems.
- Uses battlefield remembrance and deathbed practice to show how dhikr creates steadiness and a good ending.
- Presents further rewards: salvation, weight on the Day of Judgment, accessibility anywhere, and building Jannah.
- Concludes that remembrance brings tranquility and urges listeners to make it automatic through daily practice.
In the khateeb's words
“Allah is greater than my situation right now there's no issue that's greater than Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala”
“the problem may remain but you won't look at it the same and therefore the pain in your heart or your spirit won't remain”
“without the dhikr of Allah there is no peace in this life or the next life”
For the dinner table
Today’s khutbah taught that dhikr, remembering and praising Allah, is not a small extra but the heart of worship. The khateeb said remembrance keeps the soul alive, brings peace when problems remain, and helps us resist shaitan. He encouraged us to make phrases such as Allahu Akbar, SubhanAllah, and La ilaha illallah part of daily life, even when we are busy or do not understand every Arabic word yet. Like a habit practiced every day, dhikr can stay with us at the end of life and, by Allah’s mercy, help us meet Him well. We can begin with a few sincere moments of remembrance after prayer and during stressful parts of the day.
- When do you most need to remember Allah during a normal school or workday?
- Which phrase, SubhanAllah, Allahu Akbar, or La ilaha illallah, helps you slow down, and why?
- How can our family build a small daily dhikr habit together?
