Death & the hereafterFrom the masjid's own video, Aug 14, 2026.

Use time well before life runs out

“The best of people is the one whose life is long and whose deeds are good.”

The khateeb, at 19:13

In one sentence

Because time is a finite gift that steadily carries us toward death and meeting Allah, Muslims should use each day for repentance, worship, beneficial deeds, and preparation for the hereafter.

For the dinner table

The khutbah reminded us that every day is a gift, but every passing day also brings us closer to meeting Allah and death does not wait until we are old. We should use our youth, health, wealth, free time, and life wisely by filling them with good deeds. Even small acts such as helping someone, removing harm, teaching beneficial knowledge, smiling, or giving charity can matter greatly. This week, we can renew our repentance, pray on time, read Quran, forgive people, give charity, remember Allah, and examine how we spend our time.

  1. What is one good use of your time you want to protect this week?
  2. Which small act of kindness could you do for someone nearby?
  3. What would you include in a short daily muhasabah?
