For the dinner table

The khateeb reminded us that the first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah are a special opportunity to seek Allah’s mercy and draw closer to Him. He encouraged us to begin by avoiding sins and then make an intentional plan for good deeds. That plan can include praying in congregation whenever possible, adding voluntary prayers, and fasting during the first nine days, especially Arafah for those not performing Hajj. He placed special emphasis on making dua, bringing our needs and difficulties to Allah, and setting aside time on Arafah for supplication. As a family, we can also remember Allah with takbir from the first day of Dhul-Hijjah and help one another put these reminders into practice.

  1. What good deed would you like us to help each other do during these ten days?
  2. Who would you like to make dua for on Arafah, and what would you ask for them?
  3. When during our day could we remember Allah with takbir together?
