For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah introduced us to Umm Salama, one of the wives of the Prophet Muhammad and our mothers in faith. She faced persecution, separation from her family, and the loss of her beloved husband Abu Salama, while continuing to put her trust in Allah. Her story reminded us to cherish our families, ask Allah for help during hardship, and recognize that help may come through unexpected people. The Prophet later married her and welcomed responsibility for her children. He also listened to her wise advice to lead by example, teaching us to value good advice from our own families and keep pride from getting in the way.
