Build a lasting relationship with the Quran
“Do not wait until Ramadan to be connected with the book of Allah.”
Muslims can restore their happiness, faith, and communal strength by reviving a sincere, active relationship with the Qur'an through intention, purification, learning, companionship, and family example.
The khutbah in 6 steps
- Warns that neglecting Allah's remembrance causes misery and presents the Qur'an as divine mercy.
- Explains how the Qur'an transformed early Muslim society and elevated the Sahaba.
- Contrasts social-media distraction with the Qur'an's role in guiding personal life.
- Teaches that sincere intention, an attentive heart, and repentance are necessary to benefit from the Qur'an.
- Uses examples involving Ubaid bin Ka'ab, Surah Al-Kaf, and Uthman to illustrate honor and tranquility.
- Urges listeners to learn, memorize, understand, recite with tajweed, build Quran-centered companionship, and teach children by example.
In the khateeb's words
“It has to start from now Do not wait until Ramadan To be connected with the book of Allah”
“The Quran is not a seasonable book It is a book for every season”
For the dinner table
The khutbah called us to revive our relationship with the Qur'an, which the khateeb described as Allah's mercy and our link to Him. He reminded us that the Qur'an transformed the early Muslim community and can bring happiness, guidance, and tranquility into our lives. To benefit from it, we need sincere intentions, attentive hearts, and effort to leave sins behind. We should take practical steps according to our level, such as learning to read, memorizing, understanding, and improving pronunciation. The khateeb encouraged us to begin before Ramadan, find good Qur'an companions, and help our children learn through our own example.
- What is one way the Qur'an can help you with something happening in your life right now?
- What small Qur'an habit could our family begin this week?
- How can we encourage one another to read and understand the Qur'an?
