Hajj teaches Muslims to put unity first

“We all should feel a sense of unity.”

The khateeb, at 20:08

In one sentence

The unity Muslims see in Hajj should lead them to set aside racial and sectarian pride, learn good qualities from one another, and share in Hajj-season worship at home.

For the dinner table

Today’s khutbah said that Hajj shows Muslims standing together regardless of race, background, or group. Since we share one Lord and one human family, we should avoid arguing, be patient, and learn good qualities from one another. People who cannot go to Hajj can share in its spirit by remembering Allah and fasting on the Day of Arafah. The imam also encouraged the community to make Eid al-Adha joyful for children.

  1. What is one way our family can show unity with Muslims who are different from us?
  2. Which good quality could we learn from someone outside our usual group?
  3. How could we make Eid al-Adha feel special for children?
